Student Action for Responsive Leadership in Tourism (START-AIT) and Student Alliance for the Advancement of Democratic Rights in UP (STAND UP) bagged seven posts each in the Asian Institute of Tourism Student Council (AIT SC) in April 6 polls.
Incumbent AIT SC Councilor Zietchel Van Ignacio from START-AIT will lead next year’s AIT SC with 133 votes against STAND UP’s JC Tapalla with 70 votes. Meanwhile, STAND UP’s Jo Badong will serve as the AIT representative to the university student council after clinching 109 votes against Nagkakaisang Iskolar para sa Pamantasan at Sambayanan’s (KAISA UP) Josh Balinas with 88 votes.
STAND UP’s Lee Lemuel dela Torre secured the vice chair post with 114 votes against 99 abstentions.
For the councilor posts, STAND UP and START-AIT clinched two seats each. Meanwhile STAND UP’s Eugelyn Joy Aninang and START-AIT’s Ramon Jose Rayos tied for the fifth seat with 94 votes each.
STAND UP’s Alysandra Mikaela del Rosario won with 38 votes against START-AIT’s Ma. Patricia Clarice dela Cruz with 26 votes for the fourth year batch representative post. START-AIT third year batch representative Ralph Abes won with 34 votes over STAND UP’s Natsumi Kumasaka with 23 votes. Second year sole representative Leanne Elaica Dimalanta tallied 14 votes with no abstention. ■
