The UP Law Electoral Commission (LEC) unanimously disqualified four candidates for the 2016 Law Student Government (LSG) elections for non-compliance with the 2013 Omnibus Election Rules.
In a statement released by the LEC, hopefuls Dale Louis Tudtud (Treasurer), Victor Enrique Bolinao (Public Relations Officer), Karlo Stefano Domondon and Patricia Mae Peralta (Second Year Batch Representatives) were taken out of the official list of candidates due to their inability to submit their True Copy of Grades (TCG) despite the extension of the deadline until April 7.
The candidates were duly notified of their non-compliance, who in turn cited the absence of the Office of the College Secretary (OCS) staff on the date of finalization as their reason for their failure to submit their TCG. The call for candidates was made on March 23.
Meanwhile, independent candidates Paolo Dominic Macariola and Christian Jay Millena seek the LSG presidency for the next academic year.
Juan Paolo Artiaga, another independent bet, is the sole candidate seeking the position of Law Representative to the University Student Council.
Campaign period will begin April 8 and will end on the 21st. A campaign ban will be implemented on the 20th.
The college tallied 84% voter turnout or 515 out of 613 law students in the 2015 student council elections.
As of April 4, the LEC announced that 644 students are eligible to vote in this year’s elections which can be viewed in their official Facebook page. Names not on the list are deemed not officially enrolled due to deficiencies as advice of the OCS.
